I've come a long way... Literally.
The idea of living in a place other than the little red dot have always been on my mind.
Now, it is all happening.
Nobody knows how things will unfold from this point on.
The only thing I can prove is that I am not one who yearns to be comfortable, but hungers for excitement and adventure.
Some say I am foolish, some thinks I am crazy.
Again, it is a matter of perception. My only defense is that only time will tell.
Cest La Vie.

In Memory of this Historical Day
Today… Singaporeans go to the polling stations…
As a civil servant, my duty is to serve the country, I am proud of that and never before in my life have i felt this much excitement about this year's general election. Wherever i go, the election is what everybody speaks of, in my personal opinion, this is how an election should be. It is an event that encourages healthy competition, to remind us all that nobody should be left behind, but nobody is indispensable. We on our part have to continue to improve ourselves, and not depend on others, but we must also look around us and help those in need, and should a day comes when our men needs to bear arms in an impending threat, to bear arms and protect our loved ones.
I personally do not see foreign talent as foreign, I welcome our friends from abroad to come here and create opportunities (not take them away) for our fellow Singaporeans and to seek a better life, and i will gladly protect them when there is a need, just like i hope their children will do the same for me when the time comes, but if their intention is to use our citizenship as a springboard to go elsewhere, i sincerely hope they believe in karma. Overall, there are some things we must never do for our personal benefit, and there are some things we must do for the greater good. Whatever race, language or religion, i'm sure that these people will stay and be our friends, and they will help us create that future our forefathers envisioned when they first stepped on our soil.
There are some issues that i see during the past few days that worry me, such as promises being made that may be good for personal benefit, but may not benefit the country as a whole, but this, is all part and parcel of politics, I urge everybody to keep an open mind. In our society, there are the prudent people, and people who are willing to experiment with change, there is no answer that will benefit us all, no matter the decision made by the country, I will give my utmost support and give my best. I strongly believe that all Singaporeans who are eligible to cast that vote are mature and educated in their own right to make their own analysis and would have made a decision without prejudice or fear.
As much as I will hope this election will create change, I also wish for Singaporeans to evolve to become a gracious society, and to identify changes they can contribute to improve themselves, As much as I wish to see motorist giving way to others on the roads and respond with appreciation, to see commuters give way to people exiting the trains, to see our young being considerate to others by not playing music aloud, to spend a few minutes of your time and offer your photography services to tourists visiting our humble island. I honestly believe, if we show that we are not just educated people, but people who are capable of showing care and respect for others, that we will continue to thrive beyond what we have achieved today.
Singaporeans have travelled a long journey, our founding fathers, who were either the locals or migrants to this little red dot, have sacrificed so much, not only have they brought us food, they have taught us how to fish, let us not forget that, let us continue to impart their fighting spirit to our young. And do your part where duty calls.

The End of the Beginning
The year is coming to an end, what better way to welcome 2011 than to complete one of my long time goals...

Does this mean the end?... The end of trying to gobble water down my throat while jogging? Swallowing energy gel while squatting alongside the road stretching my legs after feeling my muscles hardening up? Popping huge blisters on my foot coz i can't really walk from the excruciating pain? The end of squealing in pain from my sleep at night from cramps and dragging my limping legs to work the day after coz of an important meeting?
Honestly, I'm starting to love antagonising myself, so much I'm already planning my training schedule for SC Full Marathon 2011. This is no longer a first, so this time? I will do better!! But that's not until a year later, up next? Sundown 21KM! Its back to the gym!! More Medals for the Cubicle Wall!
Although I can't say I did very well this run, I dare say I've improved my fitness condition considerably, Tough times don't last, but tough people do! I'm not exactly tough yet! But I'm at least halfway there! There are people who say, "why do you want to pay money to suffer", I mean, seriously? My answer? "I'd rather pay money to suffer than make silly excuses to be a couch potato".
Next year, I will carry a small camera with me while running, there are so many innovative inspirational messages by the runners attached to the back of their singlets, as a person who love signs, next year I will make it a point to take photos of those I like, and I already have an idea of a nice little inspirational message for myself. I'm soooOoo looking forward to the run next year!

No Time 2 Think!
What a hectic month... Preparation for run... Training... All of a sudden, all my friends seem to wants to go to Johor for dinner and shopping, I'm almost like in Malaysia every weekend, in addition to that, I had my bi-yearly trip to Malacca last Saturday, look what i bought!

This little notebook kept me entertained a little on facebook, all for a little fun!
And Yes! tommorow, my Bros have decided they want to have Bak Kut Teh in JB again! Well I guess at least I will have a tank full of fuel when i return.
The big run is next week! And I went shopping for some gear! And here is a picture of the shiny new gear, a pair of New Balance tights, energy gel for the run and the running singlet and admin stuff from the SCM goodie bag.

My knees aren't feeling so well after the last training session, I guess i'll give them a break till the run and go for spinning classes instead. I don't want to injure myself before the big day.I have an important meeting the next day after SCM, Can't take leave :(, I hope I even have energy to step on the accelerator on Monday!
New Toy Alert!

I've been eyeing this one for soOooooOo long, doing research, reading reviews and finally deciding on this value model, finally got a replacement for my 10 year old Nikon. As for what i'm gonna do with the old Nikon? Its staying in my room permanently for taking blog pictures. Finally! a proper camera for capturing new memories! Just in time for Taiwan and Hawaii!
The Mandarin version of this song caught my attention while i was driving, but after some research, I found the Cantonese lyrics more appealing to me.
I believe for most of us, the lyrics would have sounded familliar to one or more of our life events. Maybe sometimes, it is worth it to think about the consequences of certain decisions, instead of living in regret, that is, if conscience is at stake at all, I'm not afraid to admit I have used "Sorry" too many times, from now on, when in doubt, Stop to Think!.
I love Kelly! She has such big eyes! :p

Always There 4 Me
I've never been one to really celebrate birthdays, I grow older in events like these, and that isn't something I like to brag about.
However, reality is as such, and there are always people who make it bearable, this year, I have the good fortune of having all four of my very important bros celebrate this faithful day with me, unlike the past, we don't get to get together very often nowadays, for this phenomenon to happen on my special day, somehow, somewhere in me, I feel rather proud.
A little background about these people, they have been around in my life since as early as 1998, and I believe it was fate that brought us together, and it was our chemistry that has held our friendship together for so long, our history go so long back, they are all deeply etched into my memories, and we never grow tired of bringing up all the fun we had.
H, A and J were classmates when we were polytechnic students, they were in Legal Studies while i was in Engineering, just how did an engineer end up hanging out with legal students? Well, in my defense, I wasn't trying to be a poseur (engineers were considered uncool).
I knew H in squash (He was the best squash player I ever knew), and I got to know J as an orientation GL, where he asked me to join the choir with him, through our CCAs, a friendship fostered, and through them, I got to know A as well, before long, we were having trips to KL together (Poor budget students we are), and it was through these trips, where an unbreakable bond was made. It is only with them that I am able to be be myself, we laugh and poke fun of each other, and it was always merry and joy with these guys around.
Thinking back, there is so much between us that makes our lives so intertwined, it would have been impossible to imagine polytechnic life without any one of us. Today, I have also acknowledged that we are all grown up, and part of my b/d wishes are not for myself, but for my Bros as well, I wish H lots of luck with him trying for his offspring, I wish J to have a happy upcoming marriage with Ms C come 1st Jan 2012, and i wish A to finally settle down with his true love. Just like they are always here for me, I wish to be always here for them. One day, even when I am far away from them, I wish to always get together like today, to catch up on the old times.
As for what my wish for myself is, I shall keep it hush, TS&C~

Milestone
Another run complete, another milestone. Though this is only a 15km run, I get to see the beautiful sunrise and run alongside the beach.

Whats left is the final run for this year, the 42km Standard Chartered Marathon.
To prepare myself for this event, much sweat and blood has been put into it, I won't falter now, even if i have to crawl, i will cross the finishing line.
New chapter, new shoes, 1 month to get used to them...

Why Nike? Silly old me bought the Nike Sensors without realizing you can only put it in Nike shoes, but these are a neat pair anyway, I fell in love with them the moment I saw them, the price is a little steep, but WTH! Life is short! Just Do It!
